Define the common machine platform and its options
List the machine’s standard functions and optional modules, with their input and output counts, axes and communication interfaces. Share the planned product variants and which equipment will be retained across builds. This helps separate repeatable functions from application-specific configuration.
The engineering scope can align the component list, electrical drawings and PLC/HMI structure around those boundaries. Record configuration and software versions for each build and test module combinations that are actually included. A modular design still requires verification when hardware, mechanical arrangements or operating functions change.
