Define the complete safeguarding function
Leuze MLC310R20-1350 is the receiving component of a safety light curtain system. The 1350 mm nominal field and 20 mm resolution define this catalog variant. A matching transmitter is required; purchasing the receiver alone does not establish a working protective field or demonstrate safety of the complete machine.
Resolution and placement
At 20 mm resolution, evaluate hand-protection geometry rather than assuming equivalence to a 14 mm finger-protection device. Check the protected opening and the possibility of reaching above or around it. Check that supports permit optical alignment and cleaning across the full field. Adjacent beams, reflective surfaces and routes around the protected opening must be considered.
Response time belongs in the machine calculation
This receiver has a 24 ms response time and two PNP OSSD safety outputs. Include receiver response, safety-controller delay and measured machine stopping time when establishing the required separation distance. The total profile size is 29 × 1416 × 35.4 mm.
Basic function package and commissioning
The Basic receiver uses automatic start/restart and selectable transmission channels. Type 2, PL c and SIL 1 identify the sensor class; they are not a certificate for the complete machine. A suitable external restart interlock or protection against standing behind the field is essential where the risk assessment requires it. Wiring, validation and periodic checks must be performed by competent personnel.
