Distinguish sensing height from installation height
The MLC310R40-1800 receiver provides a 1800 mm nominal protective field, while its total height is 1866 mm. Its 40 mm resolution is a separate selection parameter, not the range between transmitter and receiver. Use the complete model and order code 68091418 when assessing a replacement or defining a new sensing pair.
Resolution and placement
A 40 mm resolution may be considered for hand or danger-zone guarding only after the installation geometry has been assessed. Mounting orientation and access routes remain part of the project evaluation. Check that supports permit optical alignment and cleaning across the full field. Adjacent beams, reflective surfaces and routes around the protected opening must be considered.
Response time belongs in the machine calculation
This receiver has a 17 ms response time and two PNP OSSD safety outputs. Include receiver response, safety-controller delay and measured machine stopping time when establishing the required separation distance. The total profile size is 29 × 1866 × 35.4 mm.
Basic function package and commissioning
The Basic receiver uses automatic start/restart and selectable transmission channels. Type 2, PL c and SIL 1 identify the sensor class; they are not a certificate for the complete machine. A suitable external restart interlock or protection against standing behind the field is essential where the risk assessment requires it. Wiring, validation and periodic checks must be performed by competent personnel.
